Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Wichita .

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Wichita Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

On August 16, I was attempting for the first time to capture a photo of a red sprite that sometimes happen above thunderstorms. There were thunderstorms about 50 miles to my east, so I setup my iPhone 15 to have the shutter remain open, using the NightCap app?s Star Trail feature. Mid-level clouds moving toward the east, illuminated from the top by the Moon, and from the bottom by city lights made the clouds show up as streaks across the night sky (shuttter was open for a little over 6 minutes)

This was a regular photo taken just for fun. Edited by photo shop and light room using sky replacement and lowering the brightness before editing creating the shadow like effect.

I took this photo on a super hot July day! This is Hope Thornton a 2025 graduate. She came to me after I got the opportunity to second shoot her sister-in-law?s wedding asking if I could do her senior portraits. OF COURSE my answer was yes!! When this session ended Hope told me she was going to go get an large Dr. Pepper! She handled the heat SO WELL.

The North America Nebula derives it's name from it's resemblance to the continental United States, Mexico, and the Gulf of Mexico. The nebula is about 2,600 Light years away in the constellation Cygnus, visible during the summer and fall. This narrowband image is a composite of three wavelengths of light known as Hydrogen-alpha, Sulfur II and Oxygen III, with each wavelength assigned to the R, G, or B color channel to compose a full color image.

I went on a short photography trip recently. Small country towns, canola, salt lakes and more. The weather was dodgy, which made it even more interesting.

On this dewy, fresh morning something compelled me to grab my camera and take a picture as sandhill cranes strolling gracefully through the front yard. Harriet pictured here is, as always, accompanied by Ozzie and their offspring of the season. They have been welcomed morning coffee mates for the last 12 years. The picture captures the calm presence and the dancer's restlessness of these beautiful visitors.

The Great Reno Balloon Race was this weekend. About a dozen balloon are up and aglow before dawn. This beautiful one was my favorite. Most shooting were using auto white balance, cloudy, or 5600K to keep the yellow cast from the flame. I prefer a white balance which retains the true colors of the balloons, especially for this balloon.
