We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Wichita .

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

A group of photographers meet at this Lock & Dam and share hot dogs, chili, and stories. One of them let me use his Canon 100-400mm lens. This was either with my Canon 1D4 or 1DXThis was my first outing at the dam and I like the results I got.

We were visiting family in South Carolina in December 2022 and wanted to take a walk on the beach at sunrise. It was a beautiful but chilly morning when we found this starfish at the edge of the surf. Photo was taken at 6:52 a.m. on December 18, 2022 on an iPhone 13 Pro.

Title or Location: North side of Derby, looking east
On August 16, I was attempting for the first time to capture a photo of a red sprite that sometimes happen above thunderstorms. There were thunderstorms about 50 miles to my east, so I setup my iPhone 15 to have the shutter remain open, using the NightCap app?s Star Trail feature. Mid-level clouds moving toward the east, illuminated from the top by the Moon, and from the bottom by city lights made the clouds show up as streaks across the night sky (shuttter was open for a little over 6 minutes)

I wasn't sure I would be getting a good shot of the moon that night with all of the clouds that were lingering along the horizon. It popped up for the perfect alignment with the needle at the top of the Space Needle. My favorite part is how the moonlight is shining on the water. This was taken about 8 miles from the Space Needle on Bainbridge Island.

Title or Location: How Bridge Cemetery
I heard there was a flock of Bohemian waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus) at Howbridge Cemetery Atherton. Being a cemetery setting respect and care was taken using long lens from footpath. This bird is extremely photogenic and looks like a painting, the feathers are so fine the photos of them appear to be over edited but all I do is maybe crop and lightning.I always shoot in Raw info here Canon 7D 400mm f5.6 1/250, ISO500
